EmpowerCymru — Wales’ first event dedicated to supporting industries in their transition to net zero.
Net Zero Industry Wales

Heavy industry is responsible for more than 50% of Wales’ carbon emissions — so, in 2023/24 we were appointed by Net Zero Industry Wales (NZIW) to deliver behavioural change communications and provide Welsh industry with the capability, opportunity and motivation to begin and progress their pathways to achieving net zero.

One of our tactics was to concept, launch and deliver EmpowerCymru — an inspiring annual conference in collaboration with key strategic partners — bringing together industries, investors, public sector organisations and thought leaders to share their experiences and discuss strategies to overcome Wales’ barriers to decarbonisation.

Now on its second year, EmpowerCymru 2025 took inspiration from last year’s event — which focused on ‘the journey so far’ and the ‘journey ahead’ — to create a collaborative conference aimed at ‘building the modern industrial strategy’ and ultimately ‘mobilising Wales for delivery’.

Attendees heard Welsh Government and UK Government voices, as well as a host of organisations leading the charge for net zero in Wales.

Plus, we worked with Sweetmans & Partners to deliver breakout sessions including a ‘mini-hackathon’ — which saw teams of delegates develop solutions to a challenge question: ‘How might we further mobilise Wales to deliver a low-carbon Industrial Future at pace and scale’. Some of the ideas generated in this session will be taken forward by NZIW, to further support Wales on its journey to net zero. Watch this space!

Tactics:

-
Event planning and management — meticulous project and budget management alongside liaison with stakeholders, venue, suppliers (photographer, audiovisual, live visual map development), industry speakers, etc to co-ordinate the Conference and break out sessions.

-
Event concept and brand — further developed event identity ‘EmpowerCymru’ and visual brand components, alongside close collaboration with NZIW and collaborators to develop the event programme and associated breakout sessions. This included co-ordinating themes/agenda, developing a strategy to deliver the ‘mini-hackathon’ and fireside chat, organising the development of a visual map to act as a legacy piece from the conference and briefing speakers/host.

-
PR and organic social media content creation/community management — spotlighting pre- and post-event activity (e.g., event bookings, speaker reveals, themes and topics) to drive registrations and industry discussions.

-
Design — from event invites to audiovisuals and social media graphics, we designed NZIW branded materials incorporating partner/sponsor brand guidelines.

-
Booking logistics — worked with Business Wales to facilitate the event booking system and managed all practicalities ahead of the event (e.g., accessibility information, dietary requirements, RSVPs, etc). Hosted additional information via dedicated NZIW webpage.

-
Full-event management — our team was front and centre ensuring the event ran smoothly across all areas and content was being captured for post-event comms.

David James, Managing Director of UK Analytics, said: “The very serious subject of decarbonising Wales for future generations is finally top of the agenda in both the public & private sectors. The inward investment opportunities highlighted made a clear business case for the transition to clean energy.

“The tickets sold out in record time with additional numbers needing to be added. It was standing room only for the event speakers, with a flurry of activity for the exhibitors during the breaks.”
