Raising the voices of older LGBTQ+ people
Since partnering with Age Cymru to create ‘Here and Cwiar’ in late 2021, Equinox was pleased to host the second instalment of the virtual roundtable discussion during Pride month in 2022.
Age Cymru’s second Here and Cwiar event was created to celebrate LGBTQ+ history and lived experience in Wales, while providing Age Cymru with invaluable insight into the lives of older LGBTQ+ people in Wales to strengthen its support services. Welcoming LGBTQ+ speakers who spanned generations and walks of life, Here and Cwiar explored the individual and shared experiences of the LGBTQ+ community in the modern era – connecting the experiences of young people and older people of various backgrounds.
Taking place during Pride Month in June 2022, we ran a two-week digital campaign in the event lead-up, aiming to secure a total of 45 attendees.

Thanks to effective targeting through paid and organic social media content, the second Here and Cwiar event was a great success. With speakers ranging in age, gender and ethnicities, we were able to successfully discuss the history of the LGBTQ+ community within Wales and beyond to a diverse audience.
